The goal | Introduce students to the basic concepts of computer security. Understanding fundamentals of cryptography and security protocols. Introduce risks in the networking environment and understanding of all levels where protective measures need to be implemented. | |||

Contents of lectures | Availability, Authentication, Authorization, Confidentiality, Integrity, and Access Control. One-Time-Pad, Stream Ciphers (RC4), Block Ciphers (DES, AES), Asymmetric Algorithms (Diffie-Hellman, RSA), Hash Functions (MD-5). Authentication Applications, Key Management, Secure Web Connections, Electronic Payments. Passive Attacks, Active Attacks, Malicious Software. Denial of Service. Firewalls. | |||
