The goal | Introducing students to basic principles of telemedicine and the application of information and communication technologies for medical purposes: the collecting of medical data about the patient and sending them to another location for examination, consultation and establishment of diagnosis. | |||

Contents of lectures | Basic principles of telemedicine. Acquisition and processing of different types of vital and other medical signals. ICT in medicine and health. Connecting various devices in and to the system. PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). HL7. DICOM. Biomedical data distribution. Telemedicine services. Economic, legal, ethical aspects of telemedicine. | |||
Contents of exercises | Auditory and computer exercises that follow the lectures and demonstration exercises. Using various platforms, libraries and modules for the acquisition and processing of telemedicine signals (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ...). | |||
