The goal | Starting from the principle of relativity, and the consequent theory of special relativity, the relativistic description of the electromagnetic field and related transformations are derived. Introduce students with: – a review of Special Relativity and its intertwined development with the electromagnetic theory | |||

Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Galilean transformations, Newtonian relativity, Electromagnetism and Newtonian relativity. Attempts to locate the Absolute Frame-Michelson-Morley Experiment a "Save the Ether"—The Lorentz-Fitzgerald contraction, the ether-drag hypothesis. Attempts to modify electrodynamics, the postulates of special relativity theory, derivation of the Lorentz transformation equations. | |||
Contents of exercises | Solved selected problems and examples will be discussed in details during exercise calculus. Video simulations will be used to represent certain important physical effects. | |||

Methods of teaching | Classical theoretical lectures in the classroom with the solution of practical examples. Solved problems are discussed in detailes during exercises lectures.
