The goal | Introduction to characteristics of radiation of different types of lasers and possibilities of their applications. | |||
The outcome | Students should know characteristics of laser radiation concerning power, wavelength and mode of operation, dependent on laser construction. Students should also know possibilities of laser applications in different fields of technology and science, be able to implement lasers in various fields of technology and science and determine the optimal laser radiation parameters for specific application. | |||
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Laser resonators types and stability. Active materials, power balance equations, output power calculation. Transient processes. The most common gas, liquid, solid state and semiconductor lasers and characteristics of their radiation. The most important application of different types of lasers in scientific research, measurements, material processing, telecommunications and medicine. | |||
Contents of exercises | Hands on expirience in operation of certain types of lasers and demonstration of same of their applications. | |||
