Lecturer/Associate (for OTC)
ESPB 3.0 Status elective
Condition
The goal Introducing students to principles of numerical mathematics, concept of error, numerical methods that are applicable in vocational topics in studies of electrical engineering. Introducing students to ways of choosing appropriate methods depending on nature of problem.
The outcome Students are able to apply algorithms of numerical mathematics in vocational topics in studies of electrical engineering, to choose appropriate methods for depending on nature of problem that they are solving and to handle error.
Contents
URL to the subject page http://numdis.etf.rs/num.html
Contents of lectures Notion and types of error. Iterative processes. Numerical methods for solving nonlinear equations. Numerical methods in linear algebra (solving linear equations, determination of inverse matrix). Interpolation and approximation of functions. Numerical differentiation and integration. Runge-Kutta method for solving differential equations. Application of mathematical software.
Contents of exercises Through examples, tasks and problems student learns how to adequately choose and apply methods and basic concepts that are learnt through theoretical contents. Especially students are prepared to solve problems that are occurring in Electrical Engineering, by using mathematical tools.
