The goal | Introduction to mathematical - physical modelling of practical semiconductor device. Model analysis and simulation explain the influence of relevant parameters for device functioning and lead students to the optimal design of devices. | |||
The outcome | Student is capable of understanding the influence of various device parameters on real semiconductor devices or circuits and to select the appropriate model level. Student is able to apply SPICE in device or circuit synthesis. | |||

Contents of lectures | Modelling basics. The models of physical parameters. BJT, UJT and heterostructure BJT and UJT models. Opto electronic semiconductor devices modeling.Comparative simulations with ElectricCAD, SPICE, ALS, IRSIM. Inner workings, models and limits of SPICE simulator. SPICE macro modeling. SPICE analysis types used in electronic circuit design. | |||
Contents of exercises | Examples of using finite difference methods and finite element method in solving model equations. Parallelization. Monte Carlo analysis. Applying LTSpice simulator in analysis and design of electronic circuits. SPICE noise modeling. | |||
