Silver European i-Space label in the field of data analysis and AI
Last week, the European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF 2022) was held in Prague, organized by the European network BDVA - Big Data Value Association, with the support of the VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, Charles University in Prague, the association Plan4all and the European Commission.
The EBDVF 2022 brought together industry professionals, representatives of academic institutions, researchers, engineers and creative workers from all over Europe, but also from other regions of the world, in order to discuss and improve research and industrial activities in the fields of data analysis and artificial intelligence.
At the solemn ceremony of awarding i-Space labels for 2022 to institutions that have made the most progress in the European ecosystem of big data, the Laboratory for data analysis and application of artificial intelligence of the University of Belgrade - School of Electrical Engineering (Belgrade Data Innovation Hub) received a silver award. The laboratory was awarded for its entire work in 2022, activities related to the organization of the European data week 2022 in June, scientific work and professional work in a large number of experiments on open datasets, as well as active participation in the European Horizon project EU hubs for Data.
"On behalf of the University of Belgrade and the School of Electrical Engineering, thank you very much for this recognition, the silver i-Space plaque for 2022. This award means a lot to us, because after 50 years, we rebuilt the Data Processing Laboratory, from which many laboratories and departments later emerged. In the previous period, we had many interesting projects with industry and scientific projects in the field of text and image analysis and natural language processing. In the future period, we want to be the main center for data experiments in the Western Balkan region, and we hope for more productive cooperation with our national and regional partners, as well as European scientific and research institutions, SMEs and startups" - Dr Dražen Drašković, laboratory coordinator.
Every year, the European networks BDVA and EUhubs4Data award plaques “i-Space label” to institutions that make the most progress in the field of big data in 5 domains - infrastructure, developed services, projects and experiments in which they participate, importance for the ecosystem, business strategy and sustainability. ETF is the only institution from the country and region that received this plaque.
