The goal | Understanding native speakers talking in English at the advanced level about technical topics related to software engineering. Written and spoken communication concerning the software engineering topics. Understanding a wide variety of texts and audio materials in the field of software engineering. Writing descriptions and explanations of processes in English for software engineering. | |||
The outcome | Upon the completion of this module students should be able to: - understand native speakers talking in English at the advanced level about technical topics related to software engineering, - communicate in the written and oral form concerning the software engineering topics, - understand a wide variety of texts and audio materials in the field of software engineering | |||
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Classifying, expressing cause and effect, passive constructions, organising information, time clauses, giving examples, describing functions and features. Giving and following instructions. Comparatives, conditional sentences. | |||
Contents of exercises | Describing input and output devices. Identifying the different keys on a keyboard and explaining their functions. Giving instructions for the use of computers and monitors. Summarising technical texts from the field of software engineering. Writing a short CV, a motivation letter and an e-mail. | |||
