The goal | Introducing students to commponents, systems and techniques of signal processing in the high-bit-rate coherent optical communication systems. Investigation of signal degradation due to nonlinear effects, and possible use of these effects for optical signal reshaping, synchronizing and regenerating, as well as wavelength conversion in all-optical networks.
The outcome | Understading components and subsystems operation principles, necessary for advanced modulation formats based high-bit-rate coherent optical systems realization.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Theory of directional and grating based couplers. Optical Bragg gratings. Distributed feedback lasers. Tunable lasers and filters. Mach-Zender and electroapsorbtion modulator.
