The goal | Introduce students to the basic principles of real-time systems. Train students to independently model, analyze, design, implement and test RT systems using UML and C++ languages.
The outcome | Students will be able to independently analyze problems from the domain of real-time systems, choose the appropriate hardware architecture of the system, model the problem and design the software accordingly, testing and final system in terms of fulfilling the stated requirements (time requirements, reliability, tolerance to errors, adaptability).
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Real-time systems: definition, classification, terminology, examples. RT custom hardware architecture. Reliability and failure tolerance, exceptions. Concurrent Programming: processes, communication and synchronization, shared variables and the exchange of messages, control of resources. Specification and control of fulfillment of time requirements. Deployment strategies. Modeling, UML
Contents of exercises | Recitations with demonstration of Concurrent Programming in C / C++. The basic concepts of OO programming: classes, abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism. Parts of the C++ language inherited from C.
