The goal | • Introducing students to the most commonly used electrical loads and components. • Introducing students to the compensation of reactive power. • Introducing students to the grounding systems and protective systems against electric shock. • Introducing students to the voltage drops and maximum expected consumption power.
The outcome | Training students to design low voltage electrical installations of residential, administrative and commecial buildings.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Basic properties of electrical loads. Compensation of reactive energy. Commonly used electrical components (cables, switches, fuses, bimetallic relays, overcurrent relays, miniature circuit breakers, time relays). Grounding systems. Protective measures against direct and indirect contacts. Voltage drops. Maximum expected consumption power.
Contents of exercises | An example of design of low voltage electrical installations of a residential building. LAB.
