The goal | Introduction and specification of power quality problems, their sources and effects. Defining the quality indices of voltage, current, power and frequency. . Introduction to power quality monitoring systems. Introducing measures and correction devices for amplitude and waveform of voltage distortion. | |||
The outcome | Understanding of power quality in the light of concept of deregulated electric power systems. Enabling students for using the various systems for power quality monitoring. Enabling students for practical work of analyzing the events from network analyzers using various software written for these kinds of analyses. Preparing students for choice a solution for power quality problems. | |||

Contents of lectures | Definition of indices relating to amplitude and signal waveforms of voltage, current and frequency. Classification of basic sources and consequences of power quality degrading. Mobile and stationary monitoring systems. Interpretation of power quality measuring results. Methodology for solving the problems relating to power quality. Devices for power quality improvement. | |||
Contents of exercises | Analysis of the possibilities of commercial and original power quality measurement systems. Analysis of the results of measurements with a review of available standards. Defining measures to eliminate undesirable phenomena related to power quality. Compensator synthesis . | |||
