The goal | Introduction to laser radiation characteristics and possibilities of laser applications in measurements, material processing, telecommunications, medicine, microscopy, holography, spectroscopy, laser cooling, military technology and optical storage. | |||
The outcome | Student knows characteristics of laser radiation concerning power, wavelength, polarization and mode of operation, dependent on laser construction. Student knows possibilities of laser applications in different fields of technology and science, is able to determine the optimal laser for specific application and to implement it. | |||

Contents of lectures | Laser light properties. Laser types. The most important application of different laser types in measurements, material processing, telecommunications, medicine, microscopy, holography, spectroscopy, laser cooling, military technology and optical storage. | |||
Contents of exercises | Hands on expirience in operation of certain laser types and demonstration of same of their applications (measurements, holography). | |||
