The goal | Acquiring fundamental knowledge about switched reluctance motors (SRMs) including their analysis, modeling, design, and control. "
The outcome | Students will be able to independently analyze, model and control switched reluctance motors.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Introduction. Basic properties and principle of operation of switching reluctance motors. Performance of switched reluctance motors. Modeling of a switching reluctance motor using the finite element method in the Ansys Electronics Desktop software package. Power converters topologies of SRM. Control of SRMs. Effects of phase interaction on the performance of SRM.
Contents of exercises | Practical exercises on the computer in the program packages Ansys Electronics Desktop and Matlab-Simulink. Students will model different configurations of SRMs as well as the corresponding power converters topologies using a step-by-step method. This is followed by a detailed analysis of the obtained simulation results. In the laboratory, students will be shown examples of speed-controlled SRMs.
