The goal | The aim of the course is to give students insight into computer architecture, procedure of building and using operating systems, web applications, server and client virtuelization, and cloud computing. Students will get familiar and learn how to work with the Microsoft Office suite. They will gain the ability to work independently with the various software packages mentioned above. | |||
The outcome | Introduction to the computer science basic concepts, such as computer architecture, internet, operating systems, virtuelization and cloud computing. The students are able to implement and format the different types of documents, such as text, spreadsheet, visual presentation. | |||

Contents of lectures | Personal Computer: computer organization, processor and motherboard, memory modules, other devices, software components. Operating systems: concepts, modules, filesystems, system calls, organization, graphic user interface. Internet and services, addressing, web applications, future trends, IoT. Virtualization: concepts, server and client. Cloud computing: usage, purpose, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS. | |||
Contents of exercises | MS Word: example, working panel, files, document elements, tools. MS Excel: example, work space, data types, expressions, referencing cells, functions, formatting layout, charts, templates. MS Power Point: demonstrative example, what and how to present, master slide, templates. | |||
