    The goal To introduce students to the types of attacks on the Internet, methods for the defense against attacks, and mechanisms for data and communications protection.
    The outcome Upon completion of the course, students will acquire fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge of the types of attacks that occur on the Internet, as well as the methods used in prevention and protection against the attacks.

    Contents of lectures Types of network attacks and defense methods. Methods of protection on data link layer, network layer and application layer. Authentication, authorization and accounting. Protection of DNS system. Protection of web and other services. Protection of network devices. Access control lists and firewalls. Virtual private networks. Mathematical basics of encryption.
    Contents of exercises Practical application of the security on the laboratory topology and configuration of the device for the basic protection methods: implementation of high layer security, configuration of access control lists, zone based firewall and virtual private networks.
