The goal | Introduce students with models and methods for calculating stationary and dynamic states in power systems. Introduce students with system stability issues and measures to maintain satisfactory system performance.
The outcome | Make students capable to apply these calculations on real power networks, to enable them to develop algorithms and to evaluate adequate measures for maintaining system performance in normal and disturbed conditions.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Load flow calculations. Decoupled algorithms for power flow calculations. Dynamic models of electric power systems. Calculations of static stability indicators of the system. Transient stability. Voltage stability. Numerical methods for calculating the dynamic response of a system. Direct methods for assessing stability. Frequency stability. Measures for maintaining system operation.
