The goal The objective of the course is to provide students with understanding of basic contemporary telecommunication principles and practices.
The outcome At the end of the course, the students will be familiar with the basic topics in contemporary telecommunications, efficient and reliable transmission of messages, baseband and passband digital signal transmission techniques and concepts of contemporary telecommunication systems.

Contents of lectures Introduction. Statistical coding. Forward error correction. Information theory and cryptography. Spectral analysis and linear systems. Sampling theory and quantization. Baseband digital data transmission. Intersymbol interference and Nyquist criterion. Digital modulations. Multiplexing, multiple access. Internet access. Concepts of contemporary telecommunication systems.
