The goal | Introduce formulation of appropriate equations for computer-aided solving circuits numerically or symbolically in the time or frequency domain. Provide synthesis of LC one-port networks by the Foster and Cauer procedures. Emulate different types of numeric circuit simulation, e.g. SPICE simulation, in Matlab/Scilab/Octave/Python. Computer-aided synthesis of filters in FilterSolutions/QucsStudio.
The outcome | Understand the mathematical techniques that are used in circuit simulation packages that perform symbolic or numeric circuit analysis. Design filters that meet a given set of specifications and perform a basic sensitivity analysis of a filter. Be able to use CAD tools to verify the circuits designed, account for real world implementation effects, and optimize the circuits designed.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Comprehensive review of salient concepts and algorithms in modern electric circuit theory. Numerical algorithms for circuit simulations. Transient analysis of three-phase circuits. Design of electric filters. Simulation of circuits with distributed elements. Harmonic-balance analysis. Circuit simulation with Matlab/Simulink or Scilab/Xcos. Symbolic circuit solving by Mathematica/Maxima and SymPy.
