The goal | Introduces students to the basic physical laws and allows them successful monitoring of lasers, laser applications in medicine and the basic laws of interaction modeling, the basis of measurement techniques in laser medicine and diagnosis, the basis of dosimetry and protection, as well as tasks related to the construction of lasers in medical applications and complex for implementation. | |||
The outcome | Students are capable to calculate laser parameters for the specific applications. Knowledge of measurement techniques and past, present and future lasers applications. Insight into biological tissue complexity. Developing the need for radiation protection. | |||

Contents of lectures | Introduction to laser physics. Introduction to the technique of laser. The main types that are applied in medicine. Gas lasers. Introductory remarks on the interaction of laser radiation with organic material. Applications of lasers for the purpose of surgical interventions and biostimulation. Selected topics from laser dosimetry. The trend of further applications. | |||
Contents of exercises | Photometry. Polarization. Modulation. Interaction with biological tissue. The principles of implementation (construction of practical systems). The calculation and selection of operating modes and power of the laser radiation. | |||
