The goal | Introduction to new generations of materials, technological processes of their manufacture and engineering of their electrical, magnetic, optical, thermal, and mechanical properties, through practical work in several scientific laboratories, and with a theoretical treatment of the physical basics of material characteristics and technological procedures. | |||
The outcome | High degree of knowledge about current materials and technologies, both applied in commercially available electrical and electronic components, and standing at the focus of scientific investigation. Ability to apply appropriate criteria for matching materials to the needs of specific applications. Comprehension of modern methods for material characterization and engineering of their properties. | |||

Methods of teaching | Course material consists of topics that are relevant for modern applications of materials. Physical basics of particular types of materials are elaborated, along with the concomitant technologies, and the importance of these materials in electrical engineering is emphasized. Some of the materials and technologies are dealt with through practical work, as part of the 6 laboratory assignments. | |||
