The goal Introduces basic principles of sensors and actuators, based on changing one form of energy to another. Present the basic principles of choosing the optimal energy conversion related with the adequate choice of sensors and actuators in industrial applications. Prepare students to work in a multi- disciplinary research.
The outcome Students are prepared to apply sensors and actuators in industry

Contents of lectures Dynamic/static characteristics of the sensor. Potentiometers, strain gauges, capacitive and inductive transducers. Absolute and incremental encoders. The piezoelectric effect. Accelerometers, force sensors, torque, strain. Pressure sensors, flow, level, temperature. Actuators: electromagnetic, piezoelectric, pneumatic and hydraulic. Microelectronic sensors and actuators. Lab. exercises.
Contents of exercises Eight laboratory works are divided into two cycles.
