The goal To introduce students in phenomena and problems in physical implementation of digital circuits, combinatorial as well as sequential, memories and programmable logic devices. To introduce students principles, construction and application of AD and DA converters.

Contents of lectures Impulse circuits and devices. Statical and dynamical characteristic of ideal and real logical circuits, Transistor realization. CMOS, ECL, TTL and BiCMOS. Comparators and Schmitt triggers. ROM and RAM memories. Programmable logic devices. AD and DA converters. Discretisation by time and amplitude. AD and DA converter realization. Optical encoder. Pulse-width modulation.
Contents of exercises User oriented analysis of statical and dynamical characteristics of real logic circuits.Bi-stable, mono-stable and stable circuits. Standard flip-flops, multi-vibrators, and linear time-base generators. Clock generation, time-out and watch-dog logic. Digital systems example. Power supply in digital systems. galvanic isolation. Opto-couplers.
