    The goal To provide principal knowledge in semiconductor physics, operation principles and models of electronic components, as well as in analysis and design of basic amplifier circuits in discrete and integrated technology.
    The outcome To qualify candidates for further education in analog and digital electronics.

    Contents of lectures Scope and history of electronics. Semiconductor physics (semiconductor, intrinsic, doped, semiconductor current). PN junction (distribution of electricity and and potential with and without polarization, continuity equation, current-voltage characteristics, capacitance, voltage breakdown). Diode (model, analysis od diode circuits). MOS transistor (physical principles of operation, current-voltage characteristics for long and short channel, model, polarization in discrete and integrated technology, small signal model, capacitance). Bipolar transistor (physical principles of operation, current-voltage characteristics, model, polarization in discrete and integrated technology, small signal model, capacitance). Basic amplifier stages with MOS and bipolar transistors. Transistor Current sources and active loads. JFET. JFET current sources and single transistor amplifiers. Differential amplifier (structure, polarization, transfer characteristic, analysis, input bias current, input offset voltage and input offset current). Multistage amplifiers (cascade RC, level shifter, direct connection, two-transistor amplifier stages, casode amplifier, integrated multistage amplifiers).
    Contents of exercises Examples of analysis and synthesis of basic and complex electronic circuits.
