The goal The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical background and the basic methodologies and concepts for developing networked embedded systems and applications. This course enables students to design and implement applications, based on networked embedded devices, in several application domains.
The outcome Course outcome: The acquired knowledge is applicable in the area of the networked embedded systems design for different networking, control and measurement applications.
      Contents
Contents of lectures The fundamental concepts and applications associated with networked embedded systems as a part of cyber-physical systems. Resource-oriented and service-oriented networking architectures and design styles applicable in large-scale network. Hardware requirements of different wired and wireless embedded networking platforms. Utilization of fog and cloud computing in IoT.
Contents of exercises The data communication models and middleware implementations suitable for the integration of constrained end-devices in IoT. Challenges and concepts for embedded hardware and software protection and security. The aspects of the networked embedded systems design applicable in smart cities, intelligent transportation systems, home and building automation, smart metering, etc.
