Course specification
Course title Power System Operation Planning Within Interconnected Power Systems
Acronym 13D021PRE
Study programme Electrical Engineering and Computing
Module Power Networks and Systems
Type of study doctoral studies
Lecturer (for classes)
Lecturer/Associate (for practice)
    Lecturer/Associate (for OTC)
      ESPB 9.0 Status elective
Condition Basic knowledge of load flow and short circuits calculation. Modeling of generators, lines, transformers and loads.
The goal Introduction to power system short–term operational and mid–term development planning, calculations of power flows and security analyses conducted on daily basis as well as those that are performed in purpose of creation of mid–term development plans. Introduction to software and data formats used for power flow and short circuit calculations as well as other power system operation analyses.
The outcome The course will train students to deal with real power system models of some parts of ENTSO–E interconnection or entire interconnection. Students will be trained to create such models and use them in study analyses.
      Contents
Contents of lectures Power system (PS) model exchange within ENTSO–E. Data conversion and merging of models. Security criterion. Definitions of TTC, NTC, TRM, NTF, TTF, AAC and ATC. Calculation of TTC, NTC i TRM. PS analysis software. Interconnection power exchange programs. Parallel power flows. Real power flows and power exchange programs. Allocation procedures. Explicit auction cross border capacity allocation.
Contents of exercises Study research work related to power system operation efficiency increase, elimination of bottlenecks, integration of renewable, etc. Real model of existing or perspective power system is to be used. PSA software will be available (www.powersystemassistant.com).
