The evolution of mobile communication represents a continuous scaling of system complexity. While 4G established mobile broadband and 5G introduced foundational frameworks for QoS management, the upcoming 6G era presents a fundamentally new scientific challenge: managing a vastly more complex landscape of heterogeneous digital services. Meeting these diverse performance demands requires a methodological shift from traditional, static network engineering to dynamic, data-driven optimization.

This presentation examines how Artificial Intelligence acts as a core enabler for next-generation wireless systems. By integrating advanced machine learning with Digital Twins—utilizing precise 3D virtual replicas of physical environments—we gain the capability to model complex spatio-temporal interactions and predict user traffic dynamics at a micro-scale. This talk explores how the synergy of physical environmental modeling and artificial intelligence enables real time resource allocation and precise QoS fulfillment, transitioning mobile infrastructure into an intelligent, self-optimizing system capable of supporting future technological architectures.

Philipp Svoboda is a Senior Researcher with the Institute of Telecommunications at TU Wien. His research focuses on the intersection of mobile network optimization, machine learning, and the digital transformation of infrastructure. He has extensive experience in analyzing large-scale real-world network datasets, particularly the “Vienna traces,” to bridge the gap between theoretical models and practical deployment. Currently, his work centers on the development of differentiable digital twins and AI-driven solutions for 5G-Advanced and 6G systems, with a specific emphasis on smart railway applications and high-mobility scenarios.
